When Beauty Blushed
by Kathleen O'Bryan

pastel on black paper
17" x 29"
24" x 36"   $2,800 framed

“Sometimes, I feel like mixing colors quickly, directly on the paper.  While I was trying not to get too heavy with the application, I came to a point of a sunset blushing, and then I knew how to finish with the right colors and values.”

Across Pi'iholo Pineapple
by Kathleen O'Bryan

pastel on black paper
17" x 29"
24" x 36"   $2,800 framed

“The ride up Pi'iholo Road, takes me home to the quiet, upcountry retreat that is my Maui studio.  Sometimes the fields of pineapple are newly planted in perfect geometry.  As, they pass maturity, they are less tended, appearing a little bit wild.”

Haleakala's Cloak
by Kathleen O'Bryan

pastel on black paper
11" x 15"
16" x 20"   $1,600 framed

“The wind always tries to pull away the cloud cloak off Haleakala’s summit.  Most of the time, the veil remains.  Mystery will always be more appealing.”

Desert Bloom
by Kathleen O'Bryan

pastel on black paper
11" x 15"
16" x 20"   $1,600 framed

“The mornings in the desert, at my studio near Santa Fe, literally bloom with soft and beautiful colors.  I started my love of sky there with such gorgeous display.  Now on Maui, I look for and appreciate these same miracles.”

Raven's Sunset
by Kathleen O'Bryan

pastel on black paper
17" x 29"
24" x 36"   $2,800 framed

“A high desert sunset will often be red, due to the light waves that are filtered through the atmospheric dust.  Skies like this may be hard to believe, but it is the raven that knows these colors are true.”

Riot on Baldwn Avenue
by Kathleen O'Bryan

pastel on black paper
17" x 29"
24" x 36"   $2,800 framed

“I really carry only a couple of red and orange hues in my pastel palette.  I just happen to have the perfect ones for these Shower trees on Baldwin Avenue.  The Shower trees were causing quite a disturbance this summer!"

Upcountry In Spring's Green
by Kathleen O'Bryan

pastel on black paper
21" x 29"
28" x 37"   $3,200 framed

“No where on Earth, is the color green so alive and vibrant as it is on Maui.  After returning from the desert, sometimes that is enough.”

Morning's Special Effects
by Kathleen O'Bryan

pastel on black paper
21" x 29"
28" x 37"   $3,200 framed

"One morning in Olinda, the atmosphere was cool greens and blues, until the first moment of sun blazed upon the edges of the trees creating the complement."

Eye of the Storm
by Kathleen O'Bryan

pastel on black paper
21" x 29"
28" x 37"   $3,200 framed

“The skies of storms can be fierce, no matter where we encounter them.  Electrifying, they wake me up… to watch, hoping for rain, reason enough to be alive!”

Maxfield Parrish Sky
by Kathleen O'Bryan

pastel on black paper
21" x 29"
28" x 37"   $3,200 framed

“I have always been attracted to the special light quality achieved by Maxfield Parrish.  Here was an opportunity to describe form and light, starting with a ground both flat and black.  Just like his work, I think it absolutely glows.”

Perfect Ending
by Kathleen O'Bryan

pastel on black paper
11" x 15"
16" x 20"   $1,600 framed

“Makena’s Big Beach became the perfect place to watch colors fade with the sun’s setting.  The colors of the sky, sea and sand reflected each other.  Sky and water seemed to reach the end of the journey.”

Shower Tree Explosion
by Kathleen O'Bryan

pastel on black paper
21" x 29"
28" x 37" $3,200 framed

“This Shower season, there was an explosion of light and color along Baldwin Avenue, and I was compelled to try to capture the feeling, the joy and exuberance of it. I enjoy a challenge, but I was never quite sure that I would succeed until it all pulled together and made sense, in final hours. I will credit hours of planning to my success."
