Daydreams - Oil on Canvas - 36" x 36"
Julie is known as a printmaker and her two previous Viewpoints shows were print shows. This show consists of oil paintings because Julie says, "Some ideas have to be expressed with printmaking but others I can create only with paint. In this show I tend to use landscape as a metaphor for a state of mind and, so far, they all require that I paint them."
Julie was moved by a Mahalia Jackson's rendition of Duke Ellington's Come Sunday, the centerpiece of Black, Brown and Beige, the first jazz concert ever in Carnegie Hall. It became the catalyst for the rest of the show.

Running Wild - Oil on Canvas - 36" x 36"
The first pieces she did for Eclectic Discoveries were exuberant with titles like Running Wild and Cosmic Celebration.

Cosmic Celebration
- Oil on Canvas - 30" x 24"

Space
- Oil on Canvas - 36" x 36"
In between are transitional pieces like the one shown here, Space. The eclectic trend in this show differs from Julie's previous shows. Julie tends to work in series and her previous shows exhibited images that were more obviously cohesive; the most recent was Rhythms, a series on visual music, and prior to that it was Genesis, invoking images of the beginnings of our existence.
