Forever Summer
Watercolor

I find nothing more beautiful than light shining through leaves and Forever Summer truly reflects the feeling of the weather we are blessed with here in Hawaii. Like Marion Freeman says, "you don't need to go to far away places to find inspiration for your work."

The fan shape and the content... Ti leaves woven with accents of light… a delightful combination to work with, in the simplest media of watercolor, yet a challenge to do in a larger format as I did with Lo kahi.

Lo kahi, is an Hawaiian word for Harmony or Unity. Ti Leaves were used by the Hawaiians as a sign of peace when held in their hands. By their natural qualities and strength they had many uses such as weaving and cooking… and as such brought many blessings. I marvel at the way that all colors in nature can work in harmony and beautiful relationships… the bold and the subtle, the light and dark colors… each one holding its own.
